Take a boat trip down the Salawin river which divides Myanmar and Thailand, along the way are impressive mountains and the riverbanks which form the border between these two counries. This boat trip can be done on a one day trip from Mae Sariang town. Drive through windy mountain roads passing through stunning vistas on the way and a couple of hours later you will arrive at Sop Moei village, made up of wooden stilt houses perched precariously off the cliffs of the riverbank. This village is inhabited by Burmese people and you will immediately feel the Burmese influence here. The Salawin River begins from the Himalayas flowing down through to Myanmar and Thailand. Pictures and words cannot do this boat trip justice, you will just have to try it for yourself!
