Day 1) Mae Sariang - Lawa & Karen Hilltribe Villages (with optional hilltribe homestay)
- Spend the morning sightseeing in and around the charming little town of Mae Sariang. Visit a mountain temple for a view which captures the beauty of Mae Sariang valley
- Depart Mae Sariang for Lawa and Karen hilltribe villages nestled in forested mountains approx 1hrs drive away. Enjoy the beautiful landscape views as we ascend the mountains at 1,200m above sea level
- Upon arrival at the first village, you will be invited to visit a Lawa hilltribe family, in their traditional wooden stilt house. Walk around the village, observing and learning about daily hilltribe life, their customs and traditions
- Visit the village silversmith where they can demonstrate the traditional techniques and tools used to make hill tribe silver jewellery
- Learn to cook and try traditional hilltribe food for lunch with a family
  
- A few kilometers off-road, is a remote and traditional Karen hill tribe village. Walk around the village, follow the natural flow of activities happening in the village, you may see women pounding rice, cutting firewood, or weaving. Learn about how Karen way of life, culture and customs
- Visit the village school where you can sit in on lessons and talk to the children
- Visit a mountain temple where Pat’s mum is head nun. It’s unique and tranquil location offers beautiful panoramic mountain views. Learn about Buddhism, and life as a Buddhist monk/nun.
- Enjoy a stunning sunset behind the mountain horizon and the last of the scenic views, as we head back down the mountain to Mae Sariang town. If you wish to spend an overnight in the villages you can opt to stay at a hilltribe homestay
Overnight at Hilltribe Homestay - Day 2) Back to Mae Sariang town
- Exerience the warmth and hospitality of a hill tribe family, by staying overnight at a hilltribe homestay. Enjoy preparing the evening meal together and cultural exchange as you get to know your host family
- The homestay will be in a traditional wood or bamboo stilt house. Conditions are basic with running electricity, no running hot water and outside bathroom
- Enjoy the early morning sounds of village life as you awake to the animal sounds in the village, enjoy breakfast and last moments with your family before we depart the villages and head back to Mae Sariang town
- Your guide will take you to enjoy the sights and try local way of life activities in and around Mae Sariang town, end of tour
 
**** The above itinerary departs from Mae Sariang town, which is approx 180km from Chiang Mai. Daily and regular minivan/buses depart from Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang, the journey time is approx 4hours. Or this tour is included as part of our 5d/4n Mae Hong Son Loop tour.
