Homestays with Hilltribes
|
| |
Some of our trips feature the chance to stay overnight in the village with a family in their traditional wooden stilt houses. The villagers are some of the friendliest and warmest people you will meet. Accommodation is basic but comfortable, food is local, tasty and healthy. Our homestay aims to offer a taste of daily hill tribe life and culture.
A guaranteed authentic, fun and interactive experience you can observe and partake in daily family life. You may find yourself walking through farmland picking wild herbs, cooking the evening meal or playing a game of football. If you are lucky then you might catch a village celebration such as a traditional Lawa wedding or spirit festival. Click on our Homestay Activities page to find out more. Share life with the Lawa and Karen people who will open their homes and way of life to you.

Accommodation
|
| |
Accommodation is with either a local Lawa or Karen family in their traditional wooden stilt houses. There is running electricity, bedding is simple bamboo mats and blankets and showers can be refreshing as there is no running hot water. Mealtimes will be homecooked food shared with the family. A typical Lawa meal would consist of lots of rice, green leafy vegetables, eggs, soy, flavoured with wild jungle herbs, chilli and spices. Despite accommodation being basic your family will always do their utmost to make you feel welcome and at home.

Alternatively if you prefer a more western style of accommodation you can stay at lodging at the King's Agricultural Development Center.
